About Fl!phonez
Fl!phonez was born in 2023 in northern Georgia—right after I noticed something unexpected: the Kpop albums at my local Target were selling out. That could only mean one thing – there were k-pop fans near me, and I had to find them. At the time, I had been dreaming of joining a kpop cover group, but the ones I admired were already well-established, and the closest dance classes were too far to travel. So instead of waiting for the perfect group to appear, I decided to create one. Okay, maybe I hesitated for a couple of years--- but now we are here, and Fl!phonez is officially flipping into action!
Inspiration
You probably guessed it: Newjeans. I became victim to the y2k wave—the aesthetics, the outfits, the MUSIC, and the name Fl!phonez felt like the perfect nostalgic nod. I mean, what screams y2k more than a fliphone with a z?
But of course we couldn’t just stop at the name- we needed a lore.
The Lore
Fl!phonez aren’t just a group. We’re time travelers. Each flip phone holds the power to transport its user to a specific era. Touch one, and you’re taken to a specific year- back to 1999, forward to 2008, or even further ahead. Each member of Fl!phonez will eventually represent a different year in time, bringing their own style, sound, and energy from that era. The flip phone is the portal, the time capsule, the connecting point between generations. Our performances aren’t just covers- they’re transmissions from another timeline.
Our mission
Fl!phonez aims to eventually create an inclusive, welcoming space for kpop lovers across north Georgia (and those just passing through). Whether you’re a dancer, a fan, or just someone looking for a space to vibe- we want to build a kpop community that feels like home, powered by creativity, connection, and a little bit of time-bending magic.

INTRO
Allow me to preface this by saying thank you so much for taking an interest in joining our cover group. Personally growing up in Cartersville as a lover of kpop and Kdramas it was hard to find people like myself. At the age of 21, I met 3 people in this town who liked kpop, so I ended up always having to travel out of town to Kennesaw, Atlanta, Duluth, Jones Creek over an hour just to be involved and surround myself with those like myself. But no more i say, i've seen the local target with empty shelves where kpop albums once were, i know kpop lovers are out there, now just time to find them. Let’s stop joining other kpop communities and create one of our own. :))
EXPECTATIONS
I understand this may just be fun, and for hoots ands giggles but there are things that must be taken seriously. Becoming a member of fl!phonez you automatically commit to and agree to our expectations,- FINANCIAL COMMITMENT - I will try everything in my power to keep things as cheap and as affordable as possible, but being an independent group we do not have the luxury of having a free school practice space so we may have to pay
$35+ a month for a place to practice. Other things would be gas to drive to filming locations, buying costumes, paying videographers if we decide to hire one and so on. Bottomline joining won’t be free so be sure that you can handle your own weight.- ATTENDANCE COMMITMENT - Be prepared to not only show up, but show out. To practices, meetings, filming days, video assignments, which means you must have reliable transportation, and enough availability. With that being said we are not cruel, we understand that things come up, some days will have to be skipped or accommodations will have to be made.- TEAM COMMITMENT- Having attitudes, drama, disliking another member for personal reasons, unnecessary tension, anything of the sort will not be tolerated. Leave it at the door, or leave. (Respectfully) This is supposed to be fun, dancing to genres we love with people who also enjoy it. I also hope that some people can build friendships from this. But if you create enemies, beef on your own time and do not drag the team into your issues.- SELF-IMPROVEMENT COMMITMENT - This honestly isn't toooo important, but i do ask that if you have the time and you notice you are struggling with something please do practice that at home or have someone else help you out with it.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This is subject to change, everyone's opinion is important to me so once we have everyone mostly everything will be voted on to make things fair.AUDITIONS - auditioning doesn’t stop when you make the group, unfortunately you will have to audition for positions in covers to keep things fair.PRACTICES/FILMING - My goal is for us to practice 2-4 days a week, and depending on our speed filming once a week or once every two weeks, this will be voted on.
Filming will likely be done in Atlanta as they have lots of good filming locations, if you have any local film spot suggestions please do feel free to let me know.VIDEO ASSIGNMENTS - If you miss practice, or are a dual member you will likely be required to send in video assignments which are just you at home or anywhere you can film yourself dancing to the chosen cover song. These are just to show that you are practicing, keeping up, and are prepared for your next in person practice.PUBLICITY - With this group we will be practicing, and filming and posting our videos publicly if you don't wish too or your face can't be seen publicly this group may not be the best for you.But also expect….TEAM BUILDING - Occasionally we may have team dinners, local or in the city. Showcases to support other kpop cover groups, Go to kpop events in ATL, or even Kpop karaoke nights! My hope is that you will be able to make friends while dancing.COMMUNITY - Hopefully people you can always go back to, or a sense of safety knowing there are others out there into kpop and you are not alone.

★ Any allegations will be taken seriously and result in immediate termination of membership and blacklist.7. Suggestions? bring in more, leave rudeness at the door. Feel free to suggest things, we actually highly encourage it, but do so respectfully.
TERMINATION
Praying it never comes to this, but if i have to remove people from the group, i will. Reasons you could be terminated are:1. POOR ATTENDANCE - We will try to meet at least TWICE a week, but of course life happens.EXCUSED ABSENCES - /UNLIMITED/ You will be required to submit a video assignment which you will have until the next practice to either meet before practice to show you're keeping up or submit a video assignment 11:59 the day before the next practice. (EX: You missed Saturday so you have till 11:59 Monday night or before practice Tuesday.)UNEXCUSED ABSENCES/NO SHOWS - /THREE MAX/ If you can’t make it to practice for whatever reason you must notify myself or a leader at least 24 hours in advance otherwise it will be considered a no show. There is no max amount, as life gets crazy, people forget and if you’re not hindering the group it can POTENTIALLY PASS but trust if it becomes a habit or if your dance is suffering, you risk removal from the group2. NOT FOLLOWING RULES - As stated in the rules, poor attitude if it persists and is not fixed in a timely manor or causing issues for everyone it could result in termination. Getting kicked out of our practice space and harassment will result in immediate termination.
AUDITIONS
ENTRANCE AUDITION - The audition you take to get into the group, this only has one round of auditions, online auditions for now. Your position is good for a year and you will be required to audition again the next year.GROUP AUDITIONS - The audition you take to get a spot in a cover group, covers could potentially happen every week or bi weekly depending on our weekly progress. Everyone who wishes to be part of a cover must partake in the selected covers audition. No favoritism, simply based on skill, with that being said we would also like to be fair. There may be someone who’s skill is well ahead of others while they could be picked for a lot of center parts, if they are a center they have a one week cooldown. (TBD)
MEMBERSHIPS
MEMBERSHIP TYPES -~ LOCAL ) If you are a local member without any discussed restrictions or excused absences, you will be required to attend every practice and arrive (relatively) on time to every practice.~ DUAL ) If you are a dual member this means one of two things. A, you are a local member but due to restrictions or scheduling conflicts you can not attend every practice. B, you are someone from the Kennesaw, Rome, Acworth, Rockmart, Emerson etc. area and you can not make the drive to attend every practice. If this is the case, you will be required to submit video assignments by 11:59 on nights that we’ve practiced, and you must attend at LEAST one practice/filming per week to remain in the group's cover. Unfortunately this is as lenient as it gets, failure to make it to that one practice will result in removal from the cover group.MEMBERSHIP TIERS -
ㅇ CENTERS ) These are people who consistently show up and show out whether it be skill or hard work. Typically first picks for center
positions in group covers.ㅇ MAINS ) Runner ups, shows up to the most practices and works very hard. Improves exponentially.
LEADS ) Typically dual members, people who can’t make it to all the practices or practice a lot in general, but want to be in the group not the most screen time but still a part of the group.ㅇ DANCERS ) People who also can’t completely commit but would still like to be a part of the cover videos or people who are still improving and don’t feel comfortable with a main part just yet. Mostly the backup dancers.ㅇ SUBS ) Either not ready to be in videos, just practices for improvement, or just wants to join the group for the community but would like to be involved. Their jobs will be to help with filming, makeup, individual fancams, help with dressing, and vlog footage.
GROUP POSITIONS -● LEADERS ) Group leaders will be in charge of organizing practices, and making sure to learn their parts before the first practice so that they can attend to and help their group members if needed, and help teach the formations.● CLEANERS ) Cleaners will be members who are not a part of the group but a volunteer who will sit in during practices and watch and help clean up the formation if needed. Help point out mistakes and give notes and things to work on at the end of practices.● FANCAMS ) Members who are not a part of the group but volunteers who will take fancams of group members when we’re filming the cover video.● HMF TEAM ) Hair, Makeup, & Film team will help with hair, makeup, and filming. Nothing like a full on studio setup, but just correcting flyaways, if members are running low on time maybe help them with their hair or makeup making sure no ones makeup is smudged. Filming, the person who will film the cover that day, making sure the video is stable and they're getting everything and everyone.

FAQ
Can I join if I'm in another dance group?
Absolutely as long as you think you can commit to both groups equally then it's
okay. How many people are you accepting?
Because this group is new, we are accepting as many people as we possibly can.I want to audition but I can't dedicate that much time to it. Can I still audition?
Yes! We understand everyone has different schedules due to school, work, life and
so on. We have multiple levels in the group for multiple skill levels and multiple availability levels. What are we being evaluated on/what are you guys looking for?
You will be evaluated on a lot, but to name a few, dancing is the most important. Sharp, fluid, energetic movements. Facial expressions would be nice but trying your best on your dancing is what's most important. What days and how long will we practice?
This will be a group decision so that we’re working with everyone's schedule. But the goal is to practice 2-4 days a week including filming day, and the length would be 2-3 hours. Are we required to audition for every group cover if we make it?
Absolutely not. We will try to push out Group covers once a week or every two weeks, so there will be plenty of opportunities, please audition only for the ones you want to do.Are there dues for Fl!phonez Practices?
The practice space I'm currently looking at is 35$ a month per person. With discussing more with the group, this could either go up or go down depending if we stick with it or find something better.More information regarding our meetings?
Meetings will happen once every two weeks, may be pushed to once a month.
These will be around an hour long and will be either before practice or after practice. And if schedules are busy the may be pushed to an agreed on day of the week or on call.
CLOSING NOTE
Thank you for taking the time to read through all of that. I understand that it was a lot to read but I just wanted to be very transparent on the expectations and what to expect. Hopefully none of that scared you! Let’s make this cover group the most fun, and have a great time. If you’re feeling nervous about auditioning just do it bestie, because if you don’t try you’ll never know. Xoxo, hope to see you soon.Yours truly, J.
